Thank you God for this rental house…
April 24, 2009…and thank you God that we do not own this house!! An area in the front yard is sunken in, and guess what we discovered there! A pit of Gardner snakes!!! By pit, I mean multiple snakes making their home 10 yards from my front door.
Ben and Tim are the official snake killers. They go out in the morning to find them coming out to sun themselves and try and kill one or two as I scream at the front door.
I’m very wimpy about snakes. How about you?

Very … and spiders! It’s no surprise with the loads of leaves you had in the yard – they had a safe haven! I usually see one a year while mowing, and that’s enough!Go Ben and Tim!
I cannot think of a “worst case scenario” in my yard then finding a “pit” of snakes (of any size)! My condolences to you Jess! So glad Ben and Tim are seeking to impact the census there!
i couldn’t go on living that garner snakes or any other snake, even rubber snakes, was that close to my door. I know it doesn’t make any sense. And I don’t care. I hate them. I loathe them. They make the hair stand up on the back of my knees. I pee a little. The blood rushes out of my head. Are you getting the picture?
Get yourself a nice dachshund. They are amazing little hunters and they don’t mess around like a cat playing with it.
as an adult, yes, i tend to disolve into a hysterical frenzy at the thought of them being anywhere close! but i remember that fearless stage as a kid, catching them with scott and victor down by the creek. and naming them. and bringing them home. how did my mother ever put up with that?!?
I’m a little freaked out by snakes, but we have so many garter snakes in my yard too. The kids catch them & put them in tanks on our back porch. I used to let them keep them in the house until 1 escaped & we found it crawling at the top of the fireplace headed for the ceiling!!! NO more snaked inside!
I always find snakes every time I mow the lawn – make sure that’s Ben’s job from now on!!!
I am so sorry. EEWWW. Yikes. Yuck. SCAAARRRYYY!!!
Snakes are just plain creepy.
I got the shivers just thinking about them…
Jessica & a neighbor caught 2 rather large garter snakes yesterday, and I thought of you!
ACK! We saw a couple when we lived in Georgia, I’m fine as long as they are away from me.
