I had a wonderful time helping lead worship at our church this morning. It was such a great time. Many of you know I sang with the Madison Symphony Chorus last year, which was great – but I admit I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as I anticipated. This summer is my first venture back into the world of worship leading. It’s been a long time, and leading worship at church is a little different than for kids at camp. I led worship at Eagle Lake as a college student, now I’m a mom. It has a different feel let me tell you. I don’t think I ever struggled feeling “cool” when I lead worship back then – but if I ever did – I certainly DO NOT now. For one thing, instead of taking a few minutes to “get ready” before leading worship, my morning went something like this…
First I didn’t shower because I didn’t want to wake our littlest one up. Then I spilled makeup all over my black pants, which I tried desperately to get out with hand soap, managing to spill it all over the sink. Then I found a very uncool black skirt to wear, but later on realized I had only shaved my legs up to wear my carpi’s were going to show – and my skirt was a little shorter – DUH. I finally arrived at church at 6:45 this morning, after having to turn around and got back home because I’d forgotten to put on deodorant. Again, DUH.
I REALLY enjoyed all three services. I just enjoyed singing. Some songs were great, and some just OK, but it felt really good to sing – physically, emotionally, and of course, spiritually.
Thanks to hunky hubby who watched the kids all morning. What a man!
